An idea of buying used domains recently came in my head. I have a plan to run a few sites on different niche, and I thought it would be easier if I save my sweat and energy in the niche instead of in the pagerank effort.

So I started to search informations on “used domains+pagerank“, indeed I obtained infos from great forums such as digitalpoint.com, but it was not suffice, beside the prices were high (it’s around $40-$50 for pr4 domain and around $300 for pr5 domain). I want a cheap domain with pagerank! LOL!

Then I found a website that provides search form on recently expired domain with keyword and pagerank .. great! I found 5 pr4 domains and 4 pr5 domains that were expired yesterday, but after I checked these domains via pagerank checker, it disapointed me! All domains’ pagerank were FAKE, it all came in RED color instead of GREEN! I’m not sure, maybe they just display domains that had a fake pr, and save the valid ones in their end because they might sell it again in a higher price!

I didn’t quit my journey on seeking the used domain, until I found this blog, it belong to linkrain, a member of digitalpoint forum. I read their post, and although I don’t totally agree on several paragraphs, it really enlight my mind!

LinkRain wrote this, every time a domain changes owner, Google is erasing all PageRank data and back-link data of a given domain. This make me worry to take further step on grabbing a used domain, although I had changed my client’ domain ownership once and have the pagerank intact after updated, but google might have changed their pagerank policy.

I guess I need more advice to take a brave decision, must I call off my idea?
