Here is a list of cheap internet connection from various cellular provider availabe in Jogja (as I know):

1. XL, the cheapest is the flatrate gprs connection. The rate is flat about IDR 220,000.00,- per month (I have used this connection in July 2006 - March 2007).
   How to get it?
   Go to XL center (somewhere in Jalan Mangkubumi), ask to meet a Corporate Marketing staff (Ms Yudit or Ms Yola), don’t just ask to Customer Services .. they don’t know about it.
2. StarOne from Indosat, choose the StarOne connection, volume based, quota is 1GB per month for IDR 150,000.00
   How to get it?
   Go to Graha Indosat (Kotabaru), ask for a new StarOne CDMA connection for Internet, you’ll then have to write some form and will be surveyed on the next few days.
3. Fren and CentrinOnline, for time basis: IDR 160.00 per minute, and for volume basis: IDR 5.00/kB
   How to get it?
   Go to CentrinOnline (somewhere in Jalan Gejayan, the office is located near Social Agency bookstore).
4. Fren and indo.net.id, for time basis: IDR 160.00 per minute
   How to get it?
   Go to Indo.net.id office, in Jalan C. Simanjuntak, and ask for it
5. XL and CentrinOnline, I use this connection from March 07, 2007.
   How to get it?
   Go to CentrinOnline and ask for an UNLIMITED internet connection, provided wirelessly by Centrin, you’ll have to write in a form, wait for a few days to receive a started pack including an XL cellular card.

I have used all of the connections written above and the best I get is number 5.

My Advise

In volume based internet connection, better to use an internet meter tool to examine your usage on time basis. So you will be aware if approaching or exceeding a quota limit.
